Yahtzee is a dice and card game created by "Milton Bradley" in the early 1940s. Back then in Ohio, the game was initially marketed to the general public by NAST. That is the "National Association Service of Toledo" located in Ohio.
Yahtzee can be classified as a dice game because it is quite similar to "Poker Dice". Both games are played with dice and paper, and the main goal is to roll dices and make card combinations that will help a player attain the highest scores possible.

The first thing you need to do before playing Yahtzee is to provide score sheets for each player involved. Players will be required to enter their names on the score sheets as means of identification. The score sheets are used to record players' points in each round of the Yahtzee game.
Players have to roll dice to determine who will go first before the game starts. Whoever gets the highest total number will get the nod and start the game in the first round. The person with the next total number plays next, and this pattern continues until every player has made a move in the round. When the next round starts, player one goes first, and so on.
The dice are one of the most important features of Yahtzee. Just like the score sheets, dice have an important role they play. Player's will take turns to roll the dice in each round in other to get their desired score. There are 5 dice that can be rolled 3 times to achieve the desired score. Once you have your desired dice combo, the score sheet has to be marked so the next player can take a turn to roll the dice. You can decide to set aside holders or keepers in the first and second roll but the target is to score the highest points.
There are two sections known as the upper section and the lower section. Each section comprises different categories that require a different scoring format. Every dice roll has an assigned points value, which means the points recorded in boxes depend on the value of the diced rolled per round.
Note that if at your third dice roll you don't have a dice value that matches an empty box, you will have to record ZERO in one of the categories. Once you do this, that particular category will be closed for you.
1. Upper Section Scoring Format: in this section, your target as a player is to score at least 63 points. If you achieve this, a 35-points bonus will be added to your score at the end of the game. Boxes are labeled aces to sixes and you'll need to roll 5 dice to achieve combinations. Scoring here involves taking a total of the specified die-face.
2. Lower Section Scoring Format: in this section, your target as a player is to score a Zero or an indicated amount of score defined by the category. Phrases are used in this section which indicates different combinations of dice and how the categories should be scored.
